Most Service Centers operate 6 to 10hrs per week...
For us to earn $60/hr after expenses, we need to service 2 vehicles per hour.
How do we make this happen?
We do it by compressing an entire week's worth of retail business into a 6 to 10 hour window.
Even in high-traffic workshop locations, there are only 10 or 15 people each week, who see what we do, know what we charge and are ready to have their headlights restored.
Less Hours = More Money
Instead of being open all week -- we capture these customers into a 6 to 10 hour window by limiting our retail business hours.
The purpose is -- to get these 10 or 15 people to visit on a single day or two. Squeeze them in at the rate of 2 or 3 cars per hour and earn an hourly income of $60 or more.
Work smarter not harder.
Want more hours? Simply add more locations.
Three ways to find new customers...
(1) Ask current customers to help bring you more business...
Happy customers are the best Salespeople. They like to help and they work for Free!
Most successful, small business owners will tell you "Word of Mouth" is their most effective marketing secret.
This is especially true for the Headlight Business.
Satisfied customers always generate new additional customers. A satisfied customer will tell friends, family and co-workers, especially if you ask them to. These new people, in turn, tell their friends, family and co-workers.
Always remember that every happy customer is precious and will bring you additional, new customers. It is OK to ask them to help you.
Happy customers are your best salespeople.
If you are restoring just one headlight, it is OK to use half a bottle of Klearstar. Make sure you keep the cap on tight, because Klearstar starts to harden and deteriorate as soon as the bottle is opened.
There are occasional instances where one coating of Klearstar is not enough... you can wait 30 minutes before applying a second coat. A second coat only requires half a bottle of Klearstar.
(2) The easiest way to get new customers is by erecting Visible Banners 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at your business location.
These banners must be large enough to be seen by passing motorists and pedestrians. They must also look professional and not appear home-made.
Banners tell people - What you do - Where you are located - How much it costs - and finally, how to contact you for more information.
The more banners you have, the more customers you get.
Please do not think you will get most of your customers from the Internet. You may get a few, but not enough to fuel your business for very long.
Almost all of your business comes from customer referrals & motorists driving by each day seeing your outdoor advertising.
If you decide to advertise on the Internet...
You can try free advertising on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.
Paid radio and print advertising are usually not cost-effective. Try "Google Ad Words" if you feel you must pay something for Internet advertising.
Free websites are available with a "Google Business Profile", plus they put you on your location at Google Maps whenever anyone searches "Headlight Restorations near me."
Link your business's Domain Name to your Google Business Profile.
3) The third best way of getting new customers is by handing out "coupons".
Give each new customer a "$10 off , loyalty coupon" for coming back to you again at a later date.
Give your paying customers "first-time customer coupons" to give to people they know, so their friends can benefit from your headlight service too.
Coupons work on anyone!
Having a happy $10 off customer is a much better outcome than not having this customer at all.
